Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, or using LocalLM Lab, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use LocalLM Lab.

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms apply to LocalLM Lab desktop software and related LocalLM Lab web pages provided by ThisBrainAI LLC. They do not replace Apple's own terms, licenses, or policies governing macOS, Apple Silicon, or Apple Intelligence.

What LocalLM Lab Is

LocalLM Lab is local-first desktop software developed by ThisBrainAI LLC for exploring and building with Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework (Apple Intelligence). It provides a Prompt Playground for testing system prompts and inputs, and an API Lab that exposes an OpenAI-compatible local API endpoint backed by the on-device model.

LocalLM Lab is not a hosted AI service. It runs entirely on your own Mac, using the on-device Foundation Models built into Apple Silicon. LocalLM Lab is independent software and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or provided by Apple Inc.

Free Software

LocalLM Lab is provided free of charge for personal, educational, research, and internal business use, subject to these Terms.

You may install and use LocalLM Lab on your own devices, including for work, commercial projects, consulting, or other business activities.

You may not sell, sublicense, redistribute, bundle, host for download, preinstall on hardware for sale, or otherwise commercially distribute LocalLM Lab, whether modified or unmodified, without prior written permission from ThisBrainAI LLC. To request permission, please contact neuron@thisbrain.ai.

ThisBrainAI LLC may change, suspend, or discontinue LocalLM Lab, or release paid versions or paid features in the future. If that happens, any new payment terms will be presented separately.

System Requirements

LocalLM Lab requires a Mac with Apple Silicon, macOS 26 or later, and Apple Intelligence enabled and available in your region. You are responsible for meeting these requirements and for complying with Apple's own terms governing Apple Intelligence and the Foundation Models framework.

AI-Generated Answers

Output generated through the on-device model may contain mistakes. Verify important information.

AI-generated output may also be incomplete, outdated, inappropriate, or unsuitable for your situation. Do not rely on LocalLM Lab or AI-generated output as a substitute for professional advice, especially for medical, legal, financial, safety, or other high-stakes decisions.

You are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it or sharing it with others, and for how you use LocalLM Lab's API Lab endpoint in your own applications.

API Lab

API Lab exposes a local, OpenAI-compatible API endpoint on your own machine. You are responsible for the access token it generates, for any exposure of the endpoint to your local network, and for how other applications or scripts you configure interact with it.

In summary, LocalLM Lab is designed to operate entirely on your device. ThisBrainAI LLC does not collect your prompts, outputs, API Lab tokens, local settings, or app usage analytics.

User Responsibilities

You agree to use LocalLM Lab lawfully and responsibly. You are responsible for:

Official Downloads and Updates

Official copies of LocalLM Lab are distributed through the ThisBrainAI LLC website, official app stores, official GitHub releases, or other channels authorized by ThisBrainAI LLC. You should download LocalLM Lab only from official or authorized sources.

ThisBrainAI LLC may provide updates that add features, remove features, fix bugs, improve security, or change how the software works. ThisBrainAI LLC is not obligated to provide updates or support for any particular version.

Proprietary Software and Third-Party Components

LocalLM Lab is proprietary software owned by ThisBrainAI LLC. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use LocalLM Lab in accordance with these Terms.

You may not modify, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the software except where permitted by applicable law.

LocalLM Lab may include third-party open-source components, each subject to its own license terms. See the Open Source page for a list of components and their licenses.

You may not redistribute, bundle, mirror, host, package, preinstall on hardware for sale, or otherwise make LocalLM Lab available to others as part of a commercial offering unless authorized by ThisBrainAI LLC in writing.

Third-Party Frameworks

LocalLM Lab relies on Apple's Foundation Models framework and Apple Intelligence, which are provided by Apple Inc. and governed by Apple's own terms and policies. ThisBrainAI LLC does not control Apple's framework, its availability, its behavior, or its output, and is not responsible for changes Apple makes to it.

No Warranty

LocalLM Lab is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThisBrainAI LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, and error-free operation.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ThisBrainAI LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from or related to your use of LocalLM Lab.

ThisBrainAI LLC's responsibility is limited to the LocalLM Lab software that it develops. ThisBrainAI LLC is not responsible for Apple Intelligence availability, framework changes, on-device model behavior, AI-generated output, or decisions you make based on AI-generated content.

Changes to These Terms

ThisBrainAI LLC may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will be posted on the LocalLM Lab website. Continued use of LocalLM Lab after updated Terms are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
